Kathleen Gorham,

President

Originally from the San Fernando Valley, Kathleen has lived in Palm Springs since 1990 with her husband, Tom.  Kathleen has served in the legal profession for 32 years and earned a Paralegal Studies Certificate from UC Davis.  She is the Probate Paralegal at Slovak Baron Empey Murphy & Pinkney and has been an active member of the Desert Palm Legal Professionals Association since 2011.  A member of the Palm Springs Film Society and the Palm Springs Air Museum¸ Kathleen has served DPLPA in the following capacities:  Parliamentarian, Education and Training Chair, Bylaws Committee member, Program Chair, Conference Co-Chair, and as President.

Samantha Marji,

Vice President

A proud native resident of the Coachella Valley, Samantha’s legal career began in 2009 when she became a paralegal in the U.S. Air Force Reserve.  She specializes in military justice and has traveled the world working in the legal offices of various military installations.  She has an Associate Degree in Paralegal Studies and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and proudly works with a criminal defense and DUI attorney.  Samantha has been a member of the Desert Palm Legal Professionals Association since 2010.  When not writing or reviewing legal documents, she can always be found with her favorite little lady, her daughter.

Donna Sanchez,

Secretary

Donna Sanchez is a Coachella Valley native who began her legal career in the early 1980s as a clerk for the Indio Superior Court.  She attended College of the Desert and received her Paralegal Certificate from Muir Technical College.  With more than three decades of legal experience, Donna created a litigation readiness system with risk management controls to assure clients and attorneys at Slovak Baron Empey Murphy & Pinkney that each matter is handled with the utmost care.  Donna assists with litigation and transactional matters involving real estate, estate planning documentation, business entity formation, and annual compliance requirements.

Susan Sartain,

Treasurer

Before moving to Palm Springs, Susan worked for a family law firm in the Inland Empire; altogether, she has worked in the legal field for over 35 years.   After moving to the Desert, she joined the Desert Palm Legal Professionals Association and received a job referral for a position in the civil litigation department of Slovak Baron Empey Murphy & Pinkney and has been with the firm for over 10 years.  In the past Susan has served the Desert Palm Legal Professionals Association in the following capacities:  Bylaws Committee, Chair of the 2017-2019 DPLPA Audit Committee, and she also served as Parliamentarian.

Erika Garduño,

Governor

Erika Garduno began her legal career in LA in 1995 and moved to the Coachella Valley in 2007.   She has been employed with Slovak Baron Empey Murphy & Pinkney ever since.  At the August 2016 Quarterly Conference, she was appointed Chair of the LPI Social Media Committee and is a member of the LPI Marketing Committee.  In August 2020, she was appointed Chair of the Technology Committee and will be assisting the Legal Practice and Management Technology Committee for the California Lawyers Association.  She was awarded the first ever Rising Star Award from LPI in August 2017.

Amy Mann,

Parliamentarian

Amy Mann began her legal career in 1992. She has worked as a receptionist, bookkeeper, demand writer, and case manager for personal injury attorneys over the past 28 years. She has worked at Walter Clark Legal Group since 2001 as a Litigation Manager. She feels very blessed to have had such a successful career where she has learned so much, and she is now able to use her experience to help others who are just starting their legal career. Amy has been a member of DPLPA since 2016 and she currently serves as DPLPA’s Parliamentarian.
